The trains are powered with electricity that is transmitted through a contact rail, known as the “third rail.” The third rail has 750 volts of electricity, about 100 times more powerful than electricity in a home, flowing through it at all times and is extremely dangerous.
The “third rail” is LIVE and ENERGIZED—24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Therefore, the public should avoid contact with the rail tracks at all times.
Anyone attempting to access the tracks is at extreme risk of death.
