The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART) would like to invite recognized cultural descendants and applicants for descendancy claim recognition to meet as part of on-going consultation for the recent iwi kupuna findings by the Honolulu Rail Transit Project.
The purpose of this meeting is to continue discussion on the burial treatment plan with recognized cultural descendants and others that are applying for recognition through the State Historic Preservation Division (SHPD) and the Oahu Island Burial Council.
All iwi kupuna found will be considered as previously identified and treatment decisions will be made in consultation with the OIBC and lineal and cultural descendants in accordance with Hawaii burial laws and administrative rules.
