Riding the City and County of Honolulu’s future rail system will present its passengers many great benefits. One of the most commonly asked questions by the community is “what items can you bring on board the train?” Honolulu’s nice and spacious train interiors allow for the following items to be safely brought on board during your commute.
ITEMS INCLUDE:
BICYCLES – Trains will feature bicycle racks on board the trains! Cycling enthusiasts can jump on the train for the long haul and then quickly bike away to their final destination at their next stop.
WHEELCHAIRS & WALKERS – The City’s entire transit system will be ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant. That’s why passengers with wheelchairs and walkers will enjoy the system, including priority seating areas featured in each train.
LUGGAGE – Luggage will be allowed on the train and can be stored on the overhead racks above or next to your seat while riding the system. It will definitely make stopping at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport a breeze when catching a flight.
SURFBOARDS – Surf’s up and so are surfboards! You can store your board (8 feet max) up and above your seat on specially designed overhead racks that have special straps to keep them tight and secured.
COOLERS – When joining the tailgating fun at Aloha Stadium or just going to the beach, there’s one rule, bring your rolling cooler! You may not be able to eat or drink on the train, but why not tote your favorite drinks and snacks to your final destination?
BABY STROLLERS – Babies will love riding Honolulu’s trains when mom or dad easily rolls the stroller on board for a very smooth and comfortable train ride.
There are many more items that passengers can bring on board like shopping bags, skateboards, service animals, and WiFi enabled devices, since internet connectivity will be fast and free. As the City and County of Honolulu prepares for a future service opening, you’ll be able to learn more by reviewing the system’s rules and regulations policy.
