HART awards construction contract for West Oahu rail stations
The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART) announced today that it has officially awarded the contract to build the three stations in the West Oahu Station group to Nan, Inc.
Nan, Inc. was one of four companies to bid on the contract to build the Hoopili, East Kapolei and UH-West Oahu stations. Nan, Inc. submitted the lowest bid at $56,088,470.
Bids for the West Oahu Station Group were opened in June. Three other companies submitted bids for this station group, including: Watts Constructors at $66.5 million; Hensel Phelps at $67.2 million; and Hawaiian Dredging Construction Co. at $73.4 million.
The original contract package of nine West Side stations was divided into three smaller contract packages last year to encourage broader participation by contractors during the bidding process and to generate more competitive prices.
Last month HART awarded the contract for the construction of the three stations in the Farrington Highway Station Group, which includes the West Loch, Waipahu Transit Center and Leeward Community College stations. That contract was awarded to Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company with a bid of $78,999,000.
