HART announced the successful completion of utility relocation work in Downtown Honolulu under the City Center Utility Relocation III (CCUR III) contract with Frank V. Coluccio Construction Company Inc. (FVCCC). This work included the relocation of utilities in multiple areas including Kaaahi Street, Nimitz Highway from Iwilei Road to Halekauwila Street, and on Halekauwila Street between Nimitz Highway and Cooke Street.
“The completion of the Downtown utility relocation project represents another major milestone for the Honolulu rail project and a significant accomplishment for the entire HART team,” said HART Executive Director and CEO Lori Kahikina, P.E. “With the utilities out of the way, City Center Guideway and Stations contractor, Tutor Perini, has a clear path to construct the guideway and stations through Downtown Honolulu.”
HART awarded the $217.8 million contract to FVCCC in May 2022. The major scope elements included the relocation of storm drainage, sanitary sewer, water main, gas/fuel, electrical and communications infrastructure, as well as roadway improvements. Other scope elements include traffic signal systems, street lighting and service reconnections.
Utility relocation along Dillingham Boulevard is scheduled to be complete by the end of 2026.
