The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART) has issued a Request for Bids (RFB) for the construction of a new station entrance on the makai side of the existing Pouhala (Waipahu Transit Center) Station, located at Farrington Highway and Mokuola Street.
The work includes construction of a new elevated station entrance that will include a plaza, connections to the adjoining sidewalk, stairwell leading up to the existing concourse level, security fencing, interior and exterior lighting, infrastructure for fare collection equipment, wayfinding and informational signage, utility connections and protection of existing utilities, station beacon, bike rack, speakers, communication devices, trash receptacles, fire detection and activation system, security equipment, a new bus shelter and bus pad, among others.
The due date for this solicitation is August 27, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. (HST).
Additional details related to this procurement can be found on HART’s website at https://honolulutransit.org/about/procurement/.
This project was not included in the original Segment 1 scope of work because the priority at the time was to connect the station to the bus transit center along Hikimoe Street. This new connection will significantly improve access to the station for the surrounding community and provide a safer, more direct route from the makai side of Farrington Highway.
