The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART) was selected to receive a $500,000 Brownfields Assessment Grant. The grant is part of President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, in which $1.5 billion will be spent across the nation to clean up “brownfields” properties of contaminated, polluted, or hazardous sites. Some potentially contaminated properties along the alignment include sugar mills, food processing, canning facilities, and fertilizer processing and storage facilities.
