Trial Operations for Segment 2 began on July 26, 2025. This phase includes rigorous testing of 26 different operating scenarios and a System Service Availability Demonstration, which measures the system’s performance and reliability. The system must achieve an average availability requirement of 98.5% over a 30-day rolling period, which is projected to be completed by mid-September.
Once safety documentation is reviewed and approved, Segment 2 will be transferred to the Department of Transportation Services (DTS) for passenger service.
During Trial Operations, HART reminds the public that eastbound passengers must disembark the train at Aloha Stadium Station before it enters Segment 2. The train will then travel through Segment 2 without passengers on board. Once it returns westbound to Aloha Stadium Station, passengers may board the train to continue their trip.
