HART to Hold Industry Day Event
Members of the local construction industry will have an
opportunity to learn more about the Honolulu rail transit project
at HART’s Industry Day event on Wednesday, 10/16/2013 from 8:30
a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Honolulu Country Club, 1690 Ala Puumalu
Street.
The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART), in
partnership with The Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii, will hold the
day-long workshop to bring together more than 100 contractors and
potential local subcontractors.
To ensure broad participation, Hawai`i contractors,
construction-related organizations, Disadvantaged Business
Enterprise (DBE) companies, small businesses, and trade unions have
been invited to tomorrow’s event. More than 150 people representing
the local construction industry are expected to attend.
HART Executive Director and CEO Dan Grabauskas and Honolulu
Mayor Kirk Caldwell will open the event at 9:30 a.m., followed by
presentations by contractors Kiewit; Skanska/PCL/Hawaiian Dredging,
a Joint Venture; Nordic PCL; and Hawaiian Dredging Construction
Company, Inc.
“This is about connecting with local companies to create local
job opportunities with our project,” Grabauskas said.
Scheduled exhibitors at tomorrow’s event include: Ansaldo
Honolulu, a Joint Venture; Building Industry Association of Hawaii;
The Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii; City & County of Honolulu
DBE Office; General Contractors Association of Hawaii; Hawaii
Building & Construction Trades Council; Hawaii Construction
Alliance; Hawaii Department of Transportation; Hawaiian Dredging
Construction Company, Inc.; Kiewit; Nordic PCL; and
Skanska/PCL/Hawaiian Dredging, a Joint Venture.
