The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART) Executive Director and CEO Lori Kahikina, P.E., issued the following statement regarding a gas line strike on December 12, 2025:
At approximately 11:50 a.m. on December 12, 2025 a HART contractor struck a lateral gas line near Dillingham Boulevard and Kokea Street. The contractor followed all protocols and notified Hawaii Gas, Hawaii Fire Department and Hawaii Police Department. Dillingham Boulevard was closed between Kokea Street and Alakawa Street. No evacuations took place. Hawaii Gas completed the repair and the road was open by 2:00 p.m. HART and Hawaii Gas will continue to partner and cooperate as utility relocation construction continues.
