The construction of the first segment of the Project from East Kapolei to Aloha Stadium, has been completed. On June 9, 2023, HART officially transferred 10.75 miles of rail guideway, 9 rail stations, 12 four-car trains, and the 43-acre Rail Operations Center and to the City Department of Transportation Services (DTS). This segment is now open for operations, and opened to the public on June 30, 2023.
The construction of the second segment, which includes approximately 5.2 miles from Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam to the Middle Street-Kalihi Transit Center is ongoing.
- Construction of the four stations in this segment are expected to be complete in the first quarter 2024.
- Core Systems equipment installation is ongoing for electrical, communications, train control, and signaling.
- HART anticipates completing the testing and transfer of this segment to DTS in 2025.
City Center Utilities Relocation work in the third segment from Middle Street-Kalihi Transit Center to the Civic Center in Kakaako is ongoing along Dillingham Boulevard and through the Downtown area. Immediately following the utilities relocations work will be the construction of the guideway and stations.
